Summary: Flipkart, India’s largest online retailer, is using the Azure cloud and plans to add Azure’s artificial intelligence, machine learning and analytics solutions, including Cortana Intelligence Suite and Power BI, in the future for merchandising, advertising, marketing and customer services applications. Flipkart began moving to in-house data centres in the second half of 2015 and we had speculated that it could, like Amazon, move into the cloud infrastructure market itself. It seems that is not the case and it is probably a wise move given the significant headstart enjoyed by the likes of Microsoft, which opened three regions in India also in late 2015.
