Summary: Microsoft opened two new Azure government cloud regions in the US, in Texas and Arizona, adding to the Iowa and Virginia regions launched last October as well as the DoD East and DoD Central regions that are exclusive to defence operations. Each of the regions is over 500 miles apart for geo-redundancy and they combine to give Microsoft proximity to government customers on the east and west coasts and central US. Microsoft provides data replication across regions for business continuity.
