Summary: Microsoft rolled out a preview of a managed Kubernetes service that builds on the Kubernetes support already provided through Azure Container Service (ACS). Microsoft is putting more emphasis on Kubernetes, which it views as the emerging container orchestration standard, and claims ACS has grown 300% in six months. ACS has been available since 2015 with support for various container orchestrators. Customers will only pay for the VMs and nothing – ever, Microsoft promises – to manage the Kubernetes cluster.
