Summary: HPE launched a managed hybrid cloud service for AWS, Azure and Azure Stack, with plans to expand to other cloud providers. The HPE GreenLake Hybrid Cloud is built on the company’s OneSphere hybrid cloud management platform, and incorporates compliance and cost control technology acquired through Cloud Technology Partners (CTP) and RedPixie. HPE’s professional services arm Pointnext will help with delivery of the service. For on-premise deployments, HPE will sell its own line of server hardware. A good snapshot of how IT outsourcers and managed/professional services firms are using M&A to build out managed cloud services. In HPE’s case, it is inserting itself into the value chain to serve as a springboard for its hardware.
