Summary: Microsoft recently launched availability zones in its UK South region, one of two in the country. The UK South region is located in London and UK West in Cardiff, likely with data centre operator Next Generation Data. The expansion more than doubles the size of its UK regions and increases compute capacity by over 1,500% since the first was brought online in 2016. Azure DevOps has also been made available in the UK South region. Microsoft claims tens of thousands of Azure customers in the UK. Elsewhere in Europe, Microsoft has already confirmed plans to expand the number of regions. It currently has availability zones in the North Europe (Dublin), West Europe (Netherlands) and France Central (Paris) regions, and three further regions: France South (Marseille), Germany Central (Frankfurt) and Germany Northeast (Magdeburg). Six more regions are planned: Germany North, Germany West Central, Norway West, Norway East, Switzerland North (Zurich) and Switzerland West (Geneva).
