Summary: LinkedIn – owned by Microsoft since 2016 – has begun a multi-year project to migrate all its workloads to the cloud. Unsurprisingly it has selected Azure. LinkedIn began operating its own data centres around 2012 and at the time of its acquisition had six known facilities with around 31MW of capacity. Needless to say, the growth of platforms like LinkedIn are pushing the data centre requirements for Microsoft/Azure to unprecedented heights.
