Summary: Google rolled out new cloud migration and networking tools. The Migrate for Anthos service is now in beta, enabling customers to migrate a VM from on-premise, Google Compute Engine (GCE), AWS EC2 and Azure directly into containers running in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). The aim is to help organisations migrate legacy apps into a containerised environment, and potentially to migrate customers into Google Cloud Platform (though Google is being agnostic here). Google Traffic Director is now generally available. This is a fully managed mesh control plane that works in Google’s Kubernetes-based Anthos platform. The Layer 7 Internal Load Balancer (L7 ILB), now in beta, can be added to Traffic Director to make it easier to modernise existing applications.
