Summary: The Walt Disney Studios and Microsoft signed a five-year partnership to pilot new ways of creating, producing and distributing content on Azure. The agreement centres around Disney’s StudioLAB technology hub, of which Microsoft has become an innovation partner. Disney hopes that moving production and post-production workflows to the cloud will enable it to create content more quickly and efficiently – and on a global basis. Movie production software firm Avid is also involved. It has had a strategic cloud alliance with Microsoft since 2017 and has already developed workflows running natively in Azure. Another big logo win for Microsoft.
