Summary: Hong Kong data centre operator SUNeVision confirmed a new Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute site in Hong Kong located within its MEGA-i carrier hotel in Chai Wan. Management noted that data will be directly and privately transferred to and from Microsoft Azure within MEGA-i, without going through the public Internet. Customers can now directly connect to Azure in MEGA-i, either through an on-site point of presence (PoP) or via telco partners, managed service providers or cloud exchange platforms, which are already available on what SUNeVision calls its MEGA Campus – a network of five data centres across Hong Kong that are connected via dedicated dark fibre links. SUNeVision also disclosed that it currently supports over 14k cross connects throughout its Hong Kong data centre portfolio with the majority of that centred around its MEGA-i facility.
