London’s Metropolitan Police signs up to Azure

Summary: London’s Metropolitan Police Service (MSP or Met) is using Microsoft Azure to store and review video footage recorded on Body-Worn Video (BMV) cameras developed by Microsoft partner Axon. Some 22k officers in 32 boroughs have been equipped with the cameras, which can record an entire shift. The footage is automatically uploaded to Azure when the device is docked at a police station. The move follows the opening of UK-based data centres by Microsoft in September, and the Met cited data residency and transparency around secure data management as key drivers behind its decision to choose Azure.
