Summary: India’s Sify Technologies reported its FY2016 financial results with revenue from its data centre services business up 29% y/y to US$32m in 2016. Sify added 36 new data centre customers.
Data centre services: Sify’s data centre activity during the year included:
- Commissioned a primary data centre for a public sector insurance company along with a close proximity DR site as well as another secondary data centre site, all housed within Sify’s data centres.
- Sify’s data centres now host network PoPs for several unnamed global content providers and has led to meaningful orders for peering from Indian telecom operators and ISPs.
- Migrated a national-level private insurance company’s on-premise data centre to Sify’s own facility.
Cloud and managed services: Sify’s cloud and managed services revenue remained flat y/y at around US$15.4m. Sify’s cloud and managed services activity for the year included:
- Private cloud deployment with a global medical device and software firm to set up their first data centre in India. The contract includes software, infrastructure and connectivity services as well.
- Cloud, managed and security services deployment with FinTech firm.
- Migrated a large luxury real estate provider’s entire database to Sify’s cloud environment. The contract also included connectivity to different ongoing IT projects.
- A cloud deployment with an automotive manufacturer to optimize and better utilize their existing IT infrastructure investments.
- 18 new cloud and managed services clients were added in 4Q16 and signed nine new partnerships during the year.
Public cloud uptake: Sify signed 12 new customer for SAP deployments and more notably 6 new managed public cloud customers deploying on Microsoft Azure.
