Summary: Rolls-Royce will use Google’s Cloud Machine Learning Engine to help train its AI-based system for ships, which ships use to detect, identify and track objects at sea. It will use Google’s software to create bespoke machine learning models that can interpret large and diverse data sets, that will come from existing ship sensors and radar as well as other sources such as global databases. The models are intended to be accessed remotely via the cloud. Rolls-Royce has more than 4k marine customers, including 70 navies. It also uses Microsoft Azure and Cortana AI for data collection and analysis of its aircraft engines.
