Box using multiple cloud providers for new AI features

Summary: Storage and collaboration platform Box confirmed it would launch new AI tools to its Box Skills solution next year, adding to the image recognition functionality already available that is powered by Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Audio intelligence will be powered by IBM Watson and video intelligence by Microsoft Azure. Image intelligence detects concepts, objects and people and adds keyword labels to extract metadata. Audio intelligence scans files to create and index a text transcript. Video intelligence does the same while also detecting people and topics. The Box Skills Kit is a developer toolkit for that customers to create their own custom AI tools and processes. Additionally, Box Graph is a set of apps which learn about content, activity and relationships to deliver insight for the creation of new services governed by pre-existing policies, security and compliance. The first up is Feed, which will provide a personalised stream of information about content stored in Box depending on pre-set parameters and previous interactions. The new tools are designed to help customers extract insight from content stored in Box, by performing tasks that would otherwise be too expensive or unwieldy to digitise and automate. A good example of how AI is going to drive both choice of clouds and multi-cloud adoption.
