Summary: Polish data centre operator Beyond.pl signed an agreement with Microsoft to offer select Azure services in Poland as well as jointly offer Azure Stack with Microsoft. Beyond.pl’s Data Center 2 is the first Azure Stack cloud location in Poland as well as central and eastern Europe (CEE). The move opens up Azure to Polish businesses with specific requirements to store and process data on Polish soil. As a member of the EU, Poland will implement new GDPR regulations on data protection in May. Beyond.pl operates two data centres in Poznan in western Poland, around 300km west of Warsaw and 270km east of Berlin in Germany. Opened in 2007, Data Center 1 has 800sqm of technical space while Data Center 2, opened in 2016, provides 12k sqm and is claimed to be the largest data centre in CEE.
