Summary: The NFL Draft was held remotely this year using technology from AWS and Microsoft. AWS helped power over 100 live stream feeds during the three-day event. Microsoft developed a dedicated Microsoft Teams channel for communication and collaboration between the league and 32 NFL clubs. The NFL is an existing customer of both companies. It has been using Microsoft Surface tablets during games since 2013 and earlier this year expanded its partnership to include Microsoft Teams. AWS is deployed to capture, analyze and distribute the data in its Next Gen Stats (NGS). Amazon EC2, S3 and EMR services are used to capture and store the data, analysis is through machine learning models built on Amazon SageMaker, and services including AWS Lambda are used to put the insights, predictions and statistics into broadcast analysis, scouting and coaching tools.
