Summary: Microsoft launched new Azure DCsv2-series VMs to enable applications that protect data while it is being processed – aka confidential computing. The infrastructure is available in three regions initially, with more to come by the end of the year. Microsoft has not updated its regional availability list but it looks like East US and Canada Central are two of the first regions. Named customers include messaging company Signal, security firm Fireblocks and the MobileCoin cryptocurrency. IBM just rolled out a similar offering. Both use Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) hardware.
