Summary: Google launched its europe-central2 region in Warsaw, Poland, with three AZs at launch. PKO Bank Polski was disclosed as a Google Cloud customer. It is also a co-founder (with the Polish Development Fund) of Poland’s Domestic Cloud Provider (DCP), with which Google struck a cloud reseller partnership in 2019. Google is the first of the hyperscalers to go live in Warsaw. Microsoft Azure has also announced a region but still no word on timing. Opening up three AZs at launch is a new wrinkle and speaks both the size of the potential market and the need for redundancy in enterprise architectures.
