Summary: Microsoft updated its Azure VMware Solutions feature, launched a year ago, so users can migrate their existing on-premise VMware apps to Azure without any re-architecting. The new feature is available in preview in the Azure US East and West Europe regions, with GA and geographic expansion expected later this year. AWS has done a better job of making it easier for on-premise workloads to get on its cloud (it has been doing it for a while and has multiple tools for customers to make this happen) and particularly with VMware. Microsoft is playing some catch-up but it is early enough that things are not too late.
